homemade biscuits

Ever buy those refrigerated biscuits?
Amazing aren't they?
But ever wondered what those white hard specks in them were before you baked them?
Well I have.
And I'm sure it's not the greatest for you.
Enter my search for easy homemade biscuits.
Like super easy.
Best part, it makes 24 so you can freeze a bunch and take them out as needed.

Homemade Biscuits

  • 4 c. flour
  • 2 T. baking powder
  • 1 t. salt
  • 1 c. shortening, butter or coconut oil.
  • 1 3/4 c. milk

Mix dry ingredients together.
Add in shortening or butter and mix until crumbly.
Add in milk and mix until ball forms.
Roll out onto floured surface and cut into biscuits.

To Bake: Pull desired number of biscuits out of freezer and let thaw for 30-60 minutes. Bake at 450 degrees for 8-12 minutes.

To Freeze: Freeze on a cookie sheet for 1-2 hours. Remove and place into airtight freezer bag.

* I used shortening this time and I may try butter next time. The taste wasn't as "buttery" as I wanted (obviously because I didn't use butter. duh.)
